ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

Born on April 21, 1998, in Diender, Thiès, Abib Samb is a Senegalese visual artist who graduated from the National School of Arts in Dakar in 2020. Initially drawn to sociology, he chose to pursue visual arts, training with Manel Ndoye, Bakary Sarr, and Mouhamadou Ndoye Dout’s. He has exhibited at the Artistic Itineraries of Saint-Louis, the Senegal National Visual Arts Salon, and the PARTCOURS program at Galerie Agora.

His work explores symbolism, anatomy, and human effort. At art school, he researched the cultural significance of the veil in Senegal, later expanding his focus to spirituality, self-growth, and the connection between body and mind. His figures often feature watch-dial eyes, symbolizing time and life’s cycles. A chance brushstroke led him to a defining stylistic breakthrough.

Samb continues to refine his vision, experimenting to express the human condition with increasing depth and freedom.
