Serigne Mor Gueye’s journey into sculpture is a story of childhood fascination turned lifelong passion. He discovered his love for sculpting at an early age, captivated by the creative possibilities of his immediate surroundings. Though he performed well academically, his heart was drawn elsewhere—to the exploration of materials and artistic expression.

Gueye’s formal training began alongside his brothers under the mentorship of the renowned sculptor Tafsir Momar Gueye. For over five years, he rigorously honed his skills, learning the fundamental techniques of the craft with discipline and dedication. However, it was at the Art Village of Dakar that his work truly flourished. Immersed in a dynamic environment that encouraged artistic synergy and exchange, Gueye’s practice evolved in depth and complexity.

Since 2001, he has established a strong national and international reputation, recognized for his ability to merge tradition with innovation in sculpture. His work reflects a deep engagement with form, material, and the interplay of artistic practices, making him a significant figure in contemporary Senegalese art.
