ARTIST SPOTLIGHT
Jaratullah Mariame is an artist with deep roots and a cosmopolitan perspective, born in Cairo and having traveled widely—from Senegal to Iran, and on to Canada and Turkey. Her work celebrates the harmony between humanity and nature, expressed through unique colors and textures created by transforming minerals into pigments and repurposing textiles. This approach gives her canvases a rich, vibrant texture, while stamps and postcards from around the world add a sense of travel and memory, reinforcing the bond between cultures.
A boundlessly imaginative artist, Jaratullah Mariame draws inspiration from her Mouride culture, subtly or vividly present in her work, to evoke Senegalese heritage. She aims to share this culture worldwide, with a style that is both distinctive and universal.
A young and talented artist, she also collaborated with her friend and mentor Manel Ndoye in the collective exhibition Sur le fil at the Galerie du 19M and at the 2022 Biennale with Trace d’histoire, marking her impressive debut in the contemporary art world.
