ABOUT THE ARTIST
Zeus, born Amadou Boye, is a self-taught artist from Saint-Louis, Senegal, deeply influenced by his city's rich cultural heritage. Coming from an artistic family, he first pursued photography, capturing community life before transitioning to painting.
He founded L'Or Dure ("Hard Gold"), a studio where he transforms reclaimed materials like fabric and wood into unique artworks. His paintings blend vibrant colors, textures, and Street Art elements, celebrating beauty in imperfection. Through his work, Zeus evokes emotion, provokes thought, and challenges perceptions, believing art is a tool for social change.
Beyond his creative practice, he is committed to helping Saint-Louis' street children (talibés), offering them art workshops as a means of expression and escape. His work also addresses clandestine migration, highlighting the desperation of young people risking their lives to reach Europe.
Zeus has exhibited widely in Africa and Europe, including in Mali, Burkina Faso, England, the Netherlands, France, and Belgium. A visionary artist, he invites us to rethink the world, using his art to spark reflection and celebrate human resilience.
